Swimming Programs

2012 update: Click on these links in the left column to learn more about other pool programs and swimming courses that we offer.

CHATTAHOOCHEE SCUBA is a fun family friendly environment. Our specially trained instructors know how to work with children and adults of all ages. We offer a wide variety of programs and classes especially for kids. Whether it is learning to swim or improving your skills, we are happy to help.

Parent and Child Aquatics (6 months–about 3 years)

Parents and children learn together to increase a child’s comfort level in the water and build a foundation of basic skills, such as arm and leg movements and breath control. The two levels are fun-filled and help introduce water safety concepts, encouraging a healthy recreational habit that your entire family can enjoy.

In Parent and Child Aquatics, great experiences and fun activities are provided to teach infants and young children to:

  • Enter and exit the water safely.
  • Feel comfortable in the water.
  • Submerge and explore breath control.
  • Explore floating on the back and front.
  • Play safely in the water.
  • Perform combined stroke on front and back with assistance.

Parents, you also learn:

  • How to hold and support your child in the water.
  • Valuable water safety information to make your family safer in and around the water.

Preschool Aquatics (about 4–5 years old)

Preschool-age children are taught basic aquatic safety, survival and swimming skills, all the while increasing their comfort level in and around the water. Skills are age-appropriate, helping children achieve success on a regular basis and enjoy social interactions with other children. As in all Swimming and Water Safety courses, your child will always know that it’s safety first.

In Preschool Aquatics, your child is introduced to basic skills. These skills lay the foundation for future skill development of swimming strokes:

  • Entering the water independently using ladder, steps or side and travel at least 5 yards.
  • Submerging mouth and blowing bubbles for at least 3 seconds.
  • Exiting the water safely.
  • Gliding on front for at least 2 body lengths.
  • Stepping from the side into chest-deep water.
  • Moving into a front float for 5 seconds, rolling to back, floating for 5 seconds then recovering to a vertical position.
  • Moving into a back float for 5 seconds, rolling to front then recovering to a vertical position.
  • Pushing off and swimming using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths.
  • Rolling to back, floating for 5 seconds, rolling to front then continuing to swim for 5 body lengths.

Learn-to-Swim (children about 6 years+ and adults)

Designed to help participants achieve maximum success, Learn-to-Swim courses are based on a logical, six-level progression that helps swimmers about 6+ years old and adults to develop their water safety, survival and swimming skills. For every level of Learn-to-Swim, our instructors follow a plan to introduce new swimming and water safety skills and build on previously learned skills. Each class is loaded with fun, engaging and challenging activities that motivate children to want to perform and learn to swim.

  • Group Classes are $96 for eight 45-minute sessions.
  • Private Classes are $240 for eight 30-minute sessions*.
  • *Siblings can be grouped together in a Private Class – 2 students is $300, 3 students $396, 4 students, $492, (add $96 for each additional student)
  • We have special pricing available for students who are able to attend classes between August and May during the daytime hours, 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. (Insert the School Year Daytime Pricing flyer attachment here) Click on this link for more details.
  • We also offer specific training regimens. We are more than happy to work with you so that you can meet your swimming goals.
